TITLE lX–WOMENS NCAA ATHLETICS!!!!

I just watched the best women’s, college basketball game that Maryland and Duke had to offer.  James Naismith would have been proud.  Oklahoma and Texas women are playing now, have to watch this one and report to you all a little later.

Athletic, smart, beautiful, physically gifted athletes, what a visual pleasure.

Oklahoma completely dominated Texas, no competition in that one.  My predictions for the NCAA tournament.  I have not yet ruled out Connecticut winning the title, but teams that could be right there in the fight are, (in my opinion) Auburn, Oklahoma, Stanford, Duke and Maryland look really good.

No matter, who shows up at the dance it is going to be a good one and I am so proud of the woman athletes, let the games continue.  Watching Purdue and Ohio State, I don’t know if I can take all this great action!!!

March 15th…I don’t know if any team can beat Connecticut, but it should be a great game whomever they play.  Baylor vs Texas A&M for the Big 12 title and later Stanford to play a long shot USC.  So exciting and well schooled fundamentals, it is good day.  Off to the dog park for some interaction and goofiness.  Have the best day you can, I will.

WORLD SERIES: ANGELS VS CUBS!!!! (NOT)

I had the vision, and it was the Angels & Cubbies in the World Series–what a series it would be.  Power, quickness, great gloves and just fun to watch; okay now it is up to them to make my cosmic vision be truthful.  It is not like I have seen Jesus on my garage wall after a rain (it doesn’t rain much in the Vegas Valley) or Mother Theressa on a cinnamon roll in a Nashville bakery…My cosmic vision of a fine baseball series with two exceptional teams and excellent managers….Go Cubs and Angels make my vision be truthful.

UPDATE:  The Cubs choked, a really good Dodger team has left the Cubs in the dust; Angels are behind two zip to Boston, oh well, my vision was just that, mine.  Next year is the famous refrain I shall have to use.  Today is a beautiful day no matter and life at “Last Chance Ranch” got better also.  10 month old German Short-hair Pointer called Hendrick has found a permanent home.  I nick named him WHEELER; he has a slight impairment, his rear legs are paralyzed but he has his own set of wheels to get about and he has found his final home and is just scooting around the property with his ten month old energy.  I am sure he is going to need off road wheels as soon as he is allowed to roam.  Pictures will appear shortly.  Life is good and it will always get better if you chose to make it better.

Oh well, rip that ticket up, how about the Dodgers and Tampa Bay for a new world series adventure?  I will be cheering the Dodgers.  (Please let them make it)

MANDO, ARMANDO RAMOS-BOXER-DEAD

Little blip in the newspaper this morning.  “Lightweight boxing champion beset by drug and alcohol abuse, has died.  He was 59.”  That was not all that was Mando Ramos.  He was the lightweight boxing champion in the early 1970′s, he fought the best.   He was the “MAN”, Local guy out of the Los Angeles area, fought frequently at the Olympic Auditorium in downtown L.A.  Mando Ramos was good!!!!  He was accurate, slugger, boxer, good on his feet and did not take many punches to land his.  May you rest in peace Armando, you made the Mexican American community proud.  MANDO, MANDO, MANDO I can still hear the cheers.  Boxing looked exact, when your punches landed, an artist with his hands.  The Man, The Boxer was truly loved!!!!!  No more Olympic Auditorium and no more Armando Ramos, how sad.  Olympic Auditorium was bought and turned into a Christian, Holy Roller place of worship….

TWIST & SHOUT

Could be a song by the Chub Man but this is the observation I feel watching Tiger Woods strike the ball with the left foot planted.  The Tiger is going to take a break and heal himself, what is the golf world going to do?  I know Tiger has given the zest of watching golf a little more excitement then watching bowling or cricket, but to me without Tiger I could really give a crap about how hard the greens are or the water hazards, let alone how deep the ball goes in the bunker.   Heal thyself Mr. Woods, you wife and daughter are beautiful, stay healthy and we will wait and watch for you  in the coming year.  VJ, Phil and the rest of the gang have a comfortable year, you will make a good living while Tiger sits out.

CAN THE LAKERS PLAY TEAM DEFENSE?

Granted the Bryant is the best basketball player in the league, yes he does play defense but what happened to the rest of the team.  Luke Walton plays a great defensive game, why can’t it spill over to the rest of the team?  My opinion as an observer, Boston wins tomorrow night and the championship is with the team that plays the best defense.  The three amigos on Boston are not to shabby and neither is the support team.  Go Celtics!!

Nothing is a given, but the referees are calling good games.

BECKY HAMMOND WILL PLAY FOR RUSSIA IN THE OLYMPICS

Why all the  turmoil if Becky Hammond plays for Russia?  She is an excellent basketball player and was not invited by the U.S. team for a tryout, the next best thing, play for the one who pays you.  Yes, Becky plays in the WNBA, but her bread and butter professional team is in Russia.  The Russians have offered her citizenship, lots of $’s and to be part of their Olympic Basketball team.  I don’t want to hear crap that she is unpatriotic, come on think about it.  The NCAA has foreign athletes that go to school here and participate in all the athletic programs at the schools they attend offer; track, basketball, swimming, gymnastics and other sports that help their teams qualify and win at the NCAA sanctioned events.  (Don’t tell me they don’t get financial aid) The student athlete is on full scholarship and nobody complains when they help their teams to championships, but when the world championship events occurr or the Olympics come around they participate for the country of their origin and still nobody complains.  When the Olympic events are over, back to the U.S. where they reside–double standards?  Years of schooling, scholarships up the yin yang and then kiss my ass and good-bye.  (The benefits of having all the trophies in a display case is a fine way to recruit future athletes) We also have bought the citizenship of long distance runners from Ethiopia and Kenya so don’t get all bent out of shape if Becky Hammond does it for the same reasons that others do; opportunity to play and $’s.  Had to spew and it feels better.

What about the Miss World pageants?  Both parents were born in Haiti their child was born and raised in New York, but she represents Haiti in the beauty pageant, go figure that.  Just wanted to put that in even though it means little in the real world.  What about our gymnastic team?  Russian parents, child came over to the U.S., has lived here since she was two, is she an American Citizen?  She is on the U.S. Olympic team in gymnastics and nobody says anything.  I know why, her parents are famous ex Russian gymnastic athletes and fine coaches.  Get real, the world is bought and sold, not what we want it to be.

JACKSON BROTHERS–BOXING

Remember Julian Jackson?  Late 1980′s-early 90′s–welterweight and junior middleweight champion of the world?  (WBC & WBA)  If you saw him fight you would remember the boxer and the knock your lights out right hand.  He was beautiful to watch, efficient and exact.

Well Julian is in his late 40′s and has a few children who box; he is the Commissoner of Athletics in St Thomas (Virgin Islands) and a boxing coach.  You guessed right if you think his sons are going to be as good as their dad.  One fights as a light heavyweight and the other as a welterweight; they are amateurs and with hopes of making the U.S. Olympic Boxing Team.  If the boys make the team, it will be the first time two brothers have made it at the same time–go boys!!  Watch out for them the “Jackson Brothers” to be known as “The Other Jackson’s.”  My hope is when they go professional they stay away from Bob Arum and the Fro Man, (Don King) they seem to not allow the fighters they promote have a fair share of the $’s assigned to the fight.  If I am wrong in that last statement I apologize, if not, let it be.  Oscar De La Hoya your turn to be the good man.

NCAA WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

  • It was one of the best college women’s basketball games I’ve seen.  Stanford the team, (key word in last phrase–team) beat U CON.  What a true meaning of the word team along with Candice Wiggins, what a pleasure to watch the skill, smarts and the ability to come together and win.  It takes intelligence to play the way Stanford played, I guess that is why the GPA of the athletes is more or less 3.7.  Beyond being smart, Standford changed to the triangle offense, the thought process and sharpness of their passes were just amazing.  Do  you think I like to watch good basketball?  What happened to the big game between LSU and Tennessee?  Candice Parker is hurt and still left it on the floor…What a trooper-dislocated shoulder and all.  Tuesday is the championship game and if Stanford plays the way they have been playing for the last two months, they will be the NCAA champions.  Go Stanford!!!  Off to run the dogs, have a great day because I will.  Tad more regarding LSU–no scoring, had all the opportunities to win the game and just could not get over the hump.

Update:  Now you know that Ms. Summits teams are special, they play to their opponents weakneess, and that is just what Tennessee did.  They wooped Stanford.  Congratulations to all, Stanford will be back, they are young and only Candace Wiggins graduates this year.  Candace Parker (Miss Tennessee) will be the first pick in the WNBA draft today–Los Angeles Sparks will get the first pick and you and I know they are just drooling for the presence of Ms. Parker to join the team.  The draft is deep this year, rookies are going to make a large impact on how the game is going to be played.  Yeah for Title 9 and the greatness of women athletes!!!!  We are off to the mountains, dogs and I for an adventure.   Have to add my view on the General appearing before the Senate Committee–BS!!!  This is a no win situation and the $ that are being spent on this crap has the making of a great disaster that already have the roots planted.  Boys and their toys will be the end of this civilazation as we know it.

DO MEN EVER GROW UP OR WILL THEY BE BOYS FOREVER?

Marion Jones finally admitted she has been the steroidal queen, why can’t Mr. Clemens admit he got juiced for a few years?  I guess the endorsements will be lost, Hall of Fame induction with have to an asterisk next to his name; as well as the Bonds Man.  Get over it.  They are boys playing before the House of Representative Committee, what egos and BS to think it means anything to the everyday person.  My Mom stood up to the House Un American Activities Committee in the sixties and told them in a polite way to shove it.  They were trying to say that the pacifist organization’s she belonged to had the communist tinge to them  She was asserting her right to free speech and that the War in Viet Nam was an undeclared war; in fact until our departure from that mess it wasn’t called a war.  That was a little woman who stood up for herself and was not intimidated by the puffed chested putzes.  This is a ramble, just what is the committee going to do with the Mitchell Report and the testimony that is occurring?  The steroids and the HGH will be around, if not here then over the border to the South.  Get real, this is a joke.  Adios for now, the wind has cleared the air in the Vegas area; the dogs an I are off for a run.  Getting back to the basics, “Do Men Ever Grow Up Or Will They Be Boys Forever?”

DANA JACOBSON

How right-on Dana, what a funky delivery.  Yeah woman can do it right and get to the vulgar point–what is the difference, male vs female?  Words are words no matter who delivers them.  How fun to see a drunk woman get it out in a safe environment and then get lambasted.   Shit happens, did she cause a war?  Shit happens, did she offend a fundamentalist Muslim?   Notre Dame, how hallowed are these halls?  How nonsexual are the men who where the cloth?  Oh how righteous are we, get real, my mother has a vocabulary that is a constant barrage of sexual innuendos-she is also on her way to the laughable dementia.  Spit it out and have fun, nobody is yelling fire in a movie theater.
