MOVIE–”PUTNEY SWOPE”=ROLAND BURRIS

Observation on the absurd side.  1967 movie by Robert Downey (daddy to Jr.) called “Putney Swope”.  Get it, rent it, see it; the situation regarding the soon to be Jr. Senator from Illinois is right from the script of the movie, I kid you not.  Have fun and enjoy life because it is one big  laughing matter.

FAMILY ENTERTAINMENT (NOT)

How bout this one:  Take your family to the movies, maybe you are a little to loud in a dialog driven movie and the guy next to you is pissed off so he pulls out a .380 caliber handgun and shots you.  For real, this guy was so enraged by a noisy family sitting near him in a movie theater on Christmas night, he shot the father in the arm.  He told the family to be quiet, then threw some popcorn at the man’s son and the father started walking toward him and out come the .380 and bang.  Something about bringing a .380 to the movies; I know Philadelphia is rough and tough, but this goes a little beyond entertainment for the brave.

PEARL BAILEY=QUEEN LATIFFA

If you don’t know who Pearly Bailey is, let me inform you just a bit.  Bailey/Belson (her married name) was a jazz singer, comedian, UN ambassador of good will and big spirited woman who had the twinkle of magic for all those she came in contact with.  I was on my second cup of coffee this morn and thought about Queen Latiffa and her resemblance to the Pearl.  Check it out, the smile, shape of her face, her mannerisms all remind me of Ms. Bailey.  Pearls last husband was Louis Belson Jr., one of the better jazz drummers of his time, I think the man is still alive and performing and he is in his 80′s.  Just one of those rambles that I have been thinking about for awhile. 

May this year have the chance for communication and peace be the motive for existence in this world.   Off to run the dogs and smile.

FOOTBALL: BYU LOSES TO UNRANKED ARIZONA!!!

BYU trying for respectability lost its chance when unranked University of Arizona with a uninspiring record beat the Cougars of BYU thus making the Cougars a big oops.  (Joseph Smith would not be proud of the boys last night)  Let us see what UTAH does against The Crimson Tide, my few dollars that I wish to bet are going to be on Alabama.  I don’t care what they say about the Mountain West Conference, unless you play some non conference games against good teams, the ranking system sucks.  USC in my opinion will dominate PENN STATE in the Rose Bowl.  Have no idea why I went off on college football, probably because it is more fun to watch then the pro game.  Sunday in Vegas; frost on the car windows, off to run the dogs and be grateful for health and a roof over our heads.  For all those in difficult situations, it will get better.  Happy Holidays to all and may the change be permanent as long as permanent is.

JULIA CHILD-SECRET AGENT!!!

I am trying to picture Julia Child as a Secret Agent-pre dating the CIA she was just that.  Her husband worked for the US government and she did not start her cooking phase until she was in France.  I can just see that this week; Saturday Night Live doing a segment on the high pitched, secret agent, Julia Child.  Is there a movie to be made of this?  Emma Thompson could be a fabulous Julia.  I am still chortling about this one, it has got to be a movie.  This is the truth, the CIA has opened up the files–I guess they had to wait ten years after her death to let us know her true calling.  I just saw the movie “Get Smart” what a lead in for Julia and her antics; wine bottle as the two way communicator…

RITA HAYWORTH–”GILDA”

Do I have to say more?  Charlize Theron is the only one that can equal her looks at this time.  What a beauty, I was mesmerized by her and Glenn Ford.  Go Rita, she married Prince Aly Khan and then what?  Just a ramble, off to swim and gallivant with the dogs; unconditional love, food and fun-what more is there to life at this time; oh yeah one–Obama for President of the USA!!!!

Do I give a crap if Limbaugh had been deaf?  Deafness doesn’t mean being cruel, loose lipped junkie.  Congrats to Mr. Limbaugh and Mr. Murdoch the zillionaire, conservative, homophobic fools.  Mr. Limbaugh are you going to find a way to hide your millions and not pay taxes on your income, or are you going to be generous with your $’s and buy a new pump so you won’t have to beat your meat by hand?  End of my anger tantrum, I want some of the Rush mans pills, I want to go and escape the sound of Limbaugh’s voice.
